Great to finally catch up with 47 year old Clayton Wright who suffered a sudden cardiac arrest at Long Reef Golf Club earlier this year.
Clayton dropped on the 6th green unconscious & not breathing, thankfully a young surf lifesaver from Newport Surf Life Saving Club nearby jumped to action & commenced CPR.
The Heart180 Defib was grabbed from the Clubhouse & put on Clayton.
Fortunately his heart was restarted on the second shock.
Speaking to Clayton he said “I’ve never played Long Reef before & was looking forward to it. Unfortunately I have no memory of the first 5 holes! But luckily I am alive & get a second chance! I’d like to thank everyone who saved my life.”
Clayton is in good health now & I promised him a round of golf which I’m sure you will be more enjoyable than the one that day.
